His Faithfulness for Mine

“QUOTE” – God’s faithfulness isn’t only something we receive; it’s a character trait we’re called to reflect.

If I am REALLY His child, there should increasingly be a family resemblance. He is faithful. Therefore, I should be known for faithfulness as well.

Children inherit characteristics from their parents. Sometimes it’s physical (eyes, smile, freckles). Sometimes it’s mannerisms. Sometimes, it’s personality.

Spiritually, there should also be a resemblance between the Father and His children.

Ephesians 5:1 NLT – “IMITATE GOD, therefore, IN EVERYTHING YOU DO, because you are his dear children.”

Imitate God. If God is loving, His children should become loving. If God is gracious, His children should become gracious. If God is holy, His children should pursue holiness. And… if our Father is FAITHFUL… we should also be FAITHFUL.

Faithfulness – dependable, trustworthy, committed, loyal, true to one’s word, somebody others can rely upon, somebody who finishes what they started.

Proverbs 20:6 NKJV – “Most men will proclaim each his own goodness (most people will tell you their highlight reel and what amazing things they have accomplished) but who can find a FAITHFUL man?

Notice the question isn’t: Who can find a talented person (lots of those)? Or a charismatic person (lots of those). Or a gifted person. Or an educated person. Who can find a faithful person?

Apparently, faithful people have always been valuable because they’ve always been rare.

“QUOTE” – FAITHFULNESS is counter cultural today

Your word should mean something.

1 Corinthians 4:2 NKJV – “Moreover, it is required in stewards that one be found faithful (not impressive, famous, or successful)

“QUOTE” – Heaven doesn’t measure success the way culture measures success. Culture celebrates visibility. God rewards faithfulness.

“QUOTE” – The ultimate act of faithfulness is being faithful to God’s original design for your life!

You can be successful… and still be unfaithful to your assignment

You can make money… and still miss your purpose

You can become famous… and still become something God never intended you to be

“QUOTE” – The greatest tragedy isn’t dying without accomplishing everything you WANTED to do. It’s dying without accomplishing everything God CREATED you to do.

Three Things We Must Do:

SEEK HIS WILL

Before I can be faithful to God’s assignment… I have to DISCOVER it.

Jeremiah 1:4-5 NKJV – “Then the word of the LORD came to me saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah didn’t invent his purpose. He DISCOVERED it.

Ephesians 2:10 NLT – “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the GOOD THINGS He planned for us long ago.”

“QUOTE” – Your assignment didn’t begin with your idea. It began with God’s intention.

Everything about you was designed with purpose in mind: your personality, temperament, gifts, abilities, passions, experiences, relationships, opportunities… None of those are accidental.

“QUOTE” – Only when something is used according to its intended purpose does it realize its greatest value

Even your broken places can be redeemed. He didn’t CAUSE them. But He can USE them.

Some people have spent years asking: God, will you bless what I’m doing?

I wonder what would happen if you asked: God, show me what You’re doing and let me adjust my life to You

AGREE WITH HIS WILL

Discovering God’s will isn’t enough. Eventually, we have to decide: Do I agree with God about me?

Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

God sees what we cannot see. He knows what we don’t know.

DANGEROUS PRAYER: God, you know me better than I know myself. You created me on purpose, for a purpose. Reveal your design to me and I will follow where you lead.

THOUGHT: Jesus could have been a successful Prime Minister or King of Israel. He would have lauded a success in the eyes of man, but a miserable failure in the eyes of His Father.

John 6:15 NIV – “Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.”

“QUOTE” – Nothing in our lives finds its fullest meaning until it comes into alignment with God’s design.

SURRENDER TO HIS WILL

Seeking discovers it. Agreement accepts it. Surrender lives it.

This is where FAITHFULNESS really shows up. Because surrender isn’t one decision. It’s the same decision made everyday of your life.
